We’re starting week 3 of the One Room Challenge organised by Better Homes and Gardens and I have not made much progress because I think I hit the rock bottom of the quarantine fatigue this last week or so and was feeling completely blah- uninspired af. I am a full time account manager which requires me to work a minimum of 8-10 hours a day and my job is increasingly becoming more demanding as the company faces various challenges due to the social distancing and lockdown. On top of that it’s the month of Ramadan and working full time while fasting totally drove me to the walls. And to make things worse my 5 year old seems to be going through some phase as well and has been completely out of control, sleeping wayyy later than she should be- leaving me little to no time after my day job to do any work on my blog or on this room. So, that’s my update for week 3, rant over!
Here’s a summary of the things I intend to do on this room and I have crossed off things that’s already been completed:
- Clear out the guestroom (work in progress)
Caulk the crown mouldings that are in a very bad conditionAn accent rugA night standA lamp for the night stand- An accent chair and/or bench
- Wall Art
- Accent plants
Install a door- Possibly a light fixture?
- Set the room up
- So for week 2 I barely cleaned out the room to make it somewhat workable because there were things lying all over and we were literally tripping over them as we walked through it. I still need to move out some more stuff but small progress is better than no progress, right?
- And I was able to order the rug that I was eyeing on amazon for a while but seriously hope it arrives on time!
Plan for week 3:
- Finish cleaning up the room and prepare to set everything up in week 4.
- Look for some accent pieces that I already have in the house that can be reused in this guest room, for example, I have an armchair that I was planning to donate which is sitting in the basement and I plan to use that in this room.
- I also want to bring a plant from the collection of plants I have in my living room, trust me no one will even notice that it’s missing lol.
- I also have a brand new wall art that I bought long time ago and thought I will give it someone as a gift but I think I will use that in this room for now.
- I also want to use a bench here, plan to move the bench that I have in my entrance and later buy a different one for the entrance.
As I mentioned in week 1, I plan to work on this guest room as well as it’s adjacent bathroom; so by the end of week 4, I hope to be done setting up the guest room and move on to the bathroom.
