I signed up for the one room challenge on a whim back in February 2020, little did I know what was in store for March!! Yup, corona virus came to Canada early March and within a week, I found myself quarantined and within days WHO declared this virus pandemic! Ha! What a way to try something absolutely new that I was already so nervous to attempt to begin with! I was so relieved when I got the email from the ORC team about the challenge being postponed for a month but shortly after I got major cold feet and I contemplated for a few days whether to even go through with it or not. I felt seriously intimidated by all the talented participants who are actually pro interior designers/DIYers and then I was concerned about the feasibility of finishing a project while being quarantined. After thinking long and hard for a few days, I decided to take the plunge and decided to do the makeover after all. But I promised myself that I will still strictly be quarantined at home and avoid going to the store to buy any new supplies. Luckily I bought a few thrifted items back in February which I could use for this transformation. Also since I am no DIY expert, I decided to do the makeover by simply painting and styling the rooms. So due to lack of any structural change, the challenge became quite simple. But guess what? I couldn’t finish it within the 8 week mark! The quarantine hit me hard last couple of weeks and mental health had been at the lowest low, so I failed to deliver on time! 🙁 But hey here I am now with my finished product, after 2 weeks post the ORC official reveal due date. Better late than never, right?
So let’s do a quick recap and review the plan, the moodboards and the initial photos of the rooms, on my week 1 post.
To see from where I sourced all the decor items, read week 2 post.
